  • Ankur Tewari And The Sound Of A Changing India

Ankur Tewari And The Sound Of A Changing India LIFESTYLE Ankur Tewari And The Sound Of A Changing India By Sakshi Shah 23 July 2026 Advertisement Indian music has never been more exciting than it is today. Independent artists are finding audiences across the world, regional sounds are travelling beyond linguistic boundaries, and film music is no longer confined to familiar formulas. The lines between genres have blurred, giving rise to a generation of artists who are creating on their own terms and inviting listeners into worlds that feel deeply personal. Few people have witnessed this evolution as closely as Ankur Tewari . Over the years, Tewari has worn many hats. He has been a singer songwriter, lyricist, music supervisor, curator and mentor, moving effortlessly between independent music and some of India's most memorable film and streaming projects. Yet what makes his journey interesting isn't the number of roles he has taken on. It's the consistency with which he has approached every one of them. No matter the medium, the focus has always been on serving the story. That approach has become increasingly significant as the music industry itself has evolved. Audiences today aren't simply looking for catchy songs. They are drawn to authenticity, to voices that feel real, and to stories that leave a lasting impression. Whether through the emotionally layered soundtracks of Made in Heaven and Kho Gaye Hum Kahan , the cultural impact of Gully Boy , or the celebration of diverse musical traditions through Coke Studio Bharat , Tewari's work reflects a belief that music can shape the way a story is experienced long after the screen fades to black. Spend a few minutes speaking with him and that philosophy becomes impossible to miss. "Music feels natural to me. I try to find the use of music as a medium to tell my story. From a distance it feels like I'm wearing many hats, but in reality it's all about music." It is a simple answer, but it explains a career that has never been driven by labels. Instead of choosing between independent music, cinema or artist development, Tewari has allowed each experience to inform the next. The result is a body of work that feels connected not by genre, but by intent. That sense of purpose extends beyond his own music. Throughout his career, he has played an important role in creating opportunities for emerging voices, championing artists with something genuine to say rather than simply following what's popular. As India's independent music scene continues to grow, he sees a new generation that is more fearless than ever before, building on the work of those who came before them while confidently creating spaces of their own. For Tewari, originality begins with honesty. He believes every artist should first understand what they stand for and the story they want to tell before thinking about anything else. It is a philosophy that has guided not only the artists he chooses to work with but also the way he has navigated his own creative journey. That same honesty has helped him stay grounded through an industry that is constantly changing. "Stick to the basics. Be honest in your expression and try to embrace your vulnerabilities." It is advice that feels surprisingly relevant in a time shaped by algorithms, trends and constant visibility. While the platforms have changed and the industry continues to evolve, the foundation of meaningful art remains exactly the same. The work has to come from a place that is truthful. Perhaps that is why Tewari's idea of success feels so refreshingly different. It isn't built around recognition or milestones. It is rooted in something far more personal. "If you are surrounded by a tribe you feel safe with, have your belly full and sleep with a smile on your face, you're successful." There is a quiet confidence in that perspective. It values community over competition and fulfilment over constant validation, offering a reminder that the most meaningful creative journeys are rarely measured by numbers alone. As Indian music continues to expand across genres, languages and audiences, it is entering one of its most dynamic chapters yet. Artists are experimenting more freely, listeners are embracing unfamiliar sounds and creative boundaries continue to dissolve. It is a future that Tewari looks towards with optimism, believing the next generation has both the confidence and the freedom to tell stories in ways that previous generations could only imagine. In many ways, his own journey reflects that evolution. Not because he has tried to define the sound of modern India, but because he has consistently created space for music that feels honest, curious and deeply human. Long after the songs end, that may be the contribution that resonates the most. • Four Elements, One World: Arjuna Harjai And Remee Find Their Rhythm In Elementals

Four Elements, One World: Arjuna Harjai And Remee Find Their Rhythm In Elementals LIFESTYLE Four Elements, One World: Arjuna Harjai And Remee Find Their Rhythm In Elementals By Sakshi Shah 10 October 2026 Advertisement Some ideas arrive with a plan. Others begin with a single song and reveal their larger meaning along the way. For composer and producer Arjuna Harjai and singer-songwriter Remee , Elementals began with the intention of making just one track. Two days later in a Mumbai studio, that idea had expanded into a four-track EP shaped around Fire , Hawa , Mitti and Paani . Released on 11 September 2026, the project brings together music, language and emotion through four elements that feel familiar in nature yet endlessly open to interpretation. Each track explores a different emotional landscape. Fire carries intensity and desire, Hawa evokes movement and freedom, Mitti returns to the grounding force of home and identity, while Paani moves towards attraction and surrender. The concept gave the artists a framework, but the music remained guided by instinct. “It went back and forth,” Arjuna explains, reflecting on the relationship between the elements and the emotions behind them. “A musical idea might suggest an emotion, and then thinking about the element would influence where we took it next.” Rather than treating the four elements as fixed symbols, the EP explores how feelings shift, overlap and acquire new meanings. That fluidity extends to the cultural influences behind the record. Arjuna’s musical identity is shaped by Indian melodic instincts, phrasing and the emotional nuances of language, even when his production moves into different genres. He is interested in making music that can hold Indian and international influences in the same space, allowing each to contribute to a sound that continues to evolve. During a songwriting camp in Romania, he noticed how listeners responded to Indian musical and linguistic touches in his songs, even when they did not understand the words. The experience reinforced his belief that cultural specificity can create connection far beyond its immediate context. For Remee, that openness is closely tied to her upbringing. Growing up in Thailand as a third-culture kid, between Indian heritage and an international education, she spent years feeling that she did not fit entirely into any one identity. With time, she began to see that experience differently. Instead of belonging to just one place, she could find pieces of herself across many cultures. “I think she was right,” she says of her friend Natalie Glebova’s decision to dedicate a chapter titled “Curiosity” to her in the book I Am Winning . Curiosity, for Remee, has become a way of understanding both herself and the world around her. It is a perspective that comes through in Elementals , where language becomes part of the music’s texture as much as its meaning. English, Bengali, Hindi and Punjabi each bring their own rhythms, associations and emotional registers to the project. Remee describes singing Hindi and English over an amapiano-influenced sound as feeling less like a collision of genres and more like a conversation. The result is a musical world where different influences can coexist without needing to be separated or explained. And then there is the visual world of Elementals , where the four tracks find their own identities through colour, silhouette and clothing. Oversized jackets became an unexpected way to translate the music into something tangible. Arjuna’s wife, Divya Harjai , who styled him for the songs’ social media content, found four jackets in a single shop, each one seemingly made for a different element. Fire arrived in black and orange with flame graphics; Mitti took shape in earthy red and khaki tones with South Asian artwork; Hawa brought together black and blue with imagery of wind and thunder; and Paani settled into an oversized sea-blue silhouette. The wardrobe became an extension of the sound, giving each song a distinct visual character while keeping the project connected as a whole. It is a small but telling detail: sometimes, the identity of a creative work emerges not only through its central idea, but through the unexpected objects that make that idea visible. Away from the studio, Arjuna’s creative life moves between music production, cinematic short-form videos and family life with Divya. He speaks candidly about the difficulty of slowing down, admitting that even on trips he often carries his laptop and finds himself working on another idea. Learning to spend time without turning every moment into something productive is a practice he is still exploring. That instinct to keep creating sits interestingly alongside the EP’s elemental framework, which draws its meaning from things that simply exist: warmth, wind, earth and water. A recent trip to Wales brought the project into focus for him. Staying in an Airbnb overlooking the sea, surrounded by a rocky beach, mountains and shifting weather, he began to recognise all four elements in the same landscape. The sun carried Fire, the breeze became Hawa, the rocks and mountains suggested Mitti, and the sea brought Paani into view. What had begun as a musical concept in Mumbai had found a physical expression in a place far removed from where it was created. Perhaps that is what makes Elementals compelling: its four parts offer different ways of looking at the same world. Through music, cultural identity and visual expression, Arjuna Harjai and Remee create space for those differences to exist together, without forcing them into a single definition. The elements remain distinct, yet connected by the very forces that make them what they are. Somewhere between the first note and the final horizon, Elementals finds its own kind of harmony. • Bonobo And Arooj Aftab's Fire On The Water Is The Kind Of Collaboration You Can't Plan

Bonobo And Arooj Aftab's Fire On The Water Is The Kind Of Collaboration You Can't Plan LIFESTYLE Bonobo And Arooj Aftab's Fire On The Water Is The Kind Of Collaboration You Can't Plan By Sakshi Shah 5 August 2026 Advertisement Some songs are carefully mapped out. Others arrive when no one is looking. For Bonobo , Fire on the Water began as nothing more than an acoustic guitar loop recorded while testing studio equipment one morning. It wasn't supposed to become the emotional centrepiece of his next album. In fact, the first attempt at building the track didn't work at all. The idea was shelved, lunch happened, a walk followed, and only then did something click. That unexpected moment now introduces Distance in Static , Bonobo's first studio album since Fragments , arriving on September 11 via Ninja Tune. Alongside the release of Fire on the Water , the British producer has also shared Drift , giving listeners two very different windows into what promises to be one of his most expansive records yet. Known offstage as Simon Green, Bonobo has spent more than 25 years shaping electronic music in a way that feels distinctly his own. While much of the genre often leans into high-energy drops and festival moments, Bonobo has always found beauty in restraint. His music is built on atmosphere, live instrumentation and emotion, effortlessly blending electronic production with jazz, folk, orchestral arrangements and influences from around the world. It's a sound that has earned him seven Grammy nominations, collaborations with artists like Erykah Badu and Damon Albarn , and a loyal global audience that continues to grow. That quiet approach is exactly what makes his collaboration with Grammy Award-winning vocalist, composer and producer Arooj Aftab feel so natural. Aftab has carved out her own remarkable space in contemporary music by bringing together South Asian classical traditions, jazz, ambient music and deeply personal storytelling. As the first Pakistani artist to win a Grammy Award, she has become known for creating music that refuses to sit inside one genre. Bonobo has done much the same throughout his career, making Fire on the Water feel less like an unexpected collaboration and more like two artists finally crossing paths at exactly the right time. Much of Distance in Static was recorded at Neil Young's legendary Broken Arrow Ranch studio in Woodside, California, where Green invited Aftab to work on the record. The breakthrough came almost by accident. After the original version of the song failed to land, Green returned later that day with a new arrangement. This time, Aftab heard something different. Drawing from poetry written by her friend, Pakistani writer Yasra Rizvi, she began singing in Urdu, building each line naturally around the music while Green developed the now-familiar guitar riff alongside her. Both artists have spoken about the almost hushed excitement in the room as the track slowly came together, realising they had stumbled upon something far more meaningful than either had expected. For Green, it became the moment the entire album started to make sense. That sense of openness runs through Distance in Static . Alongside Arooj Aftab, the record features an impressive lineup of collaborators including Joy Crookes , Nilüfer Yanya , Ichiko Aoba , Nicole Miglis , Aanya Martin and Kanako Yamamoto . Across its fourteen tracks, Bonobo moves effortlessly between English, Urdu and Japanese lyrics while incorporating historic Iranian samples and the delicate sound of the guzheng. Rather than presenting these influences as separate ideas, he allows them to exist together, creating an album that feels connected through emotion instead of geography. If Fire on the Water is the record's most intimate moment, Drift offers the opposite energy. Already becoming a favourite during Bonobo's recent DJ sets, the instrumental leans back into rhythm and movement, reminding listeners that while the producer has always excelled at creating reflective music, he has never lost his instinct for the dancefloor. Released together, the two tracks capture the full emotional spectrum of Distance in Static . There is something refreshing about the way Bonobo continues to evolve. Twenty-five years into his career, he isn't trying to reinvent himself through bigger collaborations or louder production. Instead, he's making space for conversations between cultures, languages and artists, trusting that the strongest ideas don't always arrive on schedule. Sometimes they appear after a failed first attempt, a walk outside and the willingness to listen a little more closely. If Fire on the Water is any indication, Distance in Static won't simply be another Bonobo album. It feels like an artist still discovering new ways to tell stories, proving that some of the most memorable music isn't planned at all. It simply finds its moment. • Tsumyoki Is Building A World Of His Own

Tsumyoki Is Building A World Of His Own LIFESTYLE Tsumyoki Is Building A World Of His Own By Sakshi Shah 30 July 2026 Advertisement There is a certain unpredictability to Tsumyoki that makes him difficult to place, and that's exactly what makes him interesting. At a time when artists are often expected to fit neatly into a genre, follow a formula or build an identity that audiences can instantly recognise, the Goan musician has taken a different route. His music moves between hip hop, pop, alternative and everything in between, but it never feels like experimentation for the sake of it. Every release feels like another chapter of someone discovering who they are in real time. Even after becoming the youngest artist to sign with Gully Gang , winning the MTV Europe Music Award for Best India Act and emerging as one of the most exciting voices to come out of Goa's independent music scene, Tsumyoki doesn't present himself as someone who has everything figured out. In conversation, what stands out isn't the achievements but his openness to growth. For him, every new experience adds another layer to who he is, and that constant evolution naturally finds its way into his music. https://video.wixstatic.com/video/08ff15_48963c08eb584e87abf8f6e7e4b933df/1080p/mp4/file.mp4 Rather than chasing a signature genre, he has always followed emotion. His catalogue reflects that, from early tracks like White Tee and Pink Blue to projects like A Message From The Moon and Housephull . Each release feels different because each one captures a different moment in his creative journey. Instead of trying to create music that fits into a particular space, he focuses on creating music that makes people feel something. Growing up in Goa has played an equally important role in shaping that perspective. While many see the state through the lens of beaches and holidays, for Tsumyoki it represents familiarity, balance and a sense of home. It is where he disconnects from the pace of the industry and reconnects with himself, a reminder that success doesn't have to change where you come from. Goa has also shaped his ambition. Through Goa Trap Culture , the collective he co-founded, he became part of a movement that challenged perceptions of what music from the state could sound like. What started as a group of young artists creating together has grown into one of India's most exciting independent collectives, proving that some of the strongest creative movements are built through community rather than competition. Like every artist of his generation, Tsumyoki is also navigating a world where creating music is only part of the job. Social media has transformed the industry, making content creation an essential part of connecting with audiences. He doesn't shy away from that reality. Instead, he acknowledges the challenge of balancing creativity with visibility, constantly looking for ways to ensure that promoting his work never takes away from the music itself. That same instinct shapes the way he approaches success. The biggest lesson his journey has taught him is that careers rarely unfold exactly as planned. Some of his biggest milestones arrived in ways he never expected, reinforcing the importance of trusting his instincts instead of trying to control every outcome. It is an outlook that keeps him focused on the work rather than the pressure surrounding it. His creative process follows a similar philosophy. Instead of worrying whether an idea is too unconventional, he follows whatever feels honest in the moment. That willingness to trust his instincts has allowed him to build a sound that feels personal rather than predictable, one that continues to evolve with every release. Fashion has become another extension of that identity. For Tsumyoki, style isn't separate from music but part of the same creative language. The visuals, the clothing and the performances all contribute to the world he is building, giving audiences a fuller picture of the artist behind the songs. Looking back at his earliest releases, he sees growth rather than comparison. The music he made as a teenager was instinctive and unfiltered, while today's work reflects greater experience and confidence in the studio. Neither version defines him completely. Together, they tell the story of an artist who continues to evolve without losing sight of where he started. More than awards or streaming milestones, Tsumyoki hopes his journey encourages the next generation of artists growing up in Goa to dream bigger. If his success can inspire someone else to believe that a career in music is possible, then he feels he has already achieved something meaningful. In an industry that often rewards artists for fitting into familiar boxes, Tsumyoki is doing something far more interesting. He is creating on his own terms, embracing change instead of resisting it, and proving that the most compelling journeys are often the ones that refuse to follow a script. • The Art Of Resort Dressing, According To Hanne Bloch

The Art Of Resort Dressing, According To Hanne Bloch By Sakshi Shah The Art Of Resort Dressing, According To Hanne Bloch 30 July 2026 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Resort dressing has quietly become one of fashion's most enduring categories. Once reserved for tropical holidays and sun soaked escapes, it now extends far beyond the suitcase, shaping wardrobes that move effortlessly through destination weddings, rooftop evenings, leisurely brunches and summer days in the city. The appeal is no longer simply about where you're travelling, but how you choose to dress. Easy silhouettes, luxurious fabrics and pieces that transition seamlessly from one occasion to the next have become the foundation of modern resort wear. Few brands understand that evolution quite like Hanne Bloch . With its latest Resort Collection, the label presents a wardrobe that embraces exactly this way of dressing. Every piece is created with the belief that luxury should outlast a season, combining refined craftsmanship with timeless design and an understated sense of elegance. Produced in small quantities through long standing European manufacturing partners, the collection reflects a thoughtful approach where quality and longevity take precedence over fleeting trends. At the heart of the collection is the Silk String Set , a look that perfectly encapsulates Hanne Bloch's design philosophy. Crafted from Grade 6A Mulberry silk, it pairs a fluid floor length skirt with a delicately constructed string top, finished with understated metallic ring detailing that brings subtle definition to the silhouette. The beauty of the design lies in what it chooses not to do. There are no unnecessary embellishments or dramatic statements, only exceptional fabric, graceful movement and a silhouette that feels effortlessly refined. That restraint is precisely what makes the collection feel so relevant today. Holiday wardrobes are no longer expected to remain tucked away until the next getaway. The pieces people invest in are expected to travel well, adapt naturally to different occasions and continue earning their place long after the journey has ended. Hanne Bloch responds to that shift with garments that feel equally at home by the coast, at an intimate dinner, during a summer celebration or simply navigating warm days in the city. The versatility of the Silk String Set reflects that mindset beautifully. Styled together, it creates a polished look that feels relaxed rather than overly considered. Worn separately, each piece offers even greater possibilities. The flowing skirt pairs effortlessly with crisp cotton shirting or lightweight knitwear, while the top sits comfortably alongside tailored trousers, linen separates or relaxed denim. It is this flexibility that allows the collection to become part of an everyday wardrobe instead of existing solely for a holiday. Equally central to Hanne Bloch's identity is its choice of fabric. Silk has always carried an undeniable elegance, yet its appeal today extends far beyond its luxurious finish. Lightweight, breathable and naturally fluid, it offers the kind of comfort and longevity increasingly sought by those building thoughtful wardrobes. Hanne Bloch's commitment to premium Mulberry silk reflects a belief that the finest garments are defined as much by how they feel as how they look. More than anything, the Resort Collection captures a shift in the way we approach dressing itself. It is no longer about packing for a destination but about building a wardrobe that moves effortlessly through different moments, places and seasons. That philosophy is what gives Hanne Bloch its enduring appeal. Rather than chasing what is next, the label focuses on creating pieces that remain relevant year after year, quietly becoming the ones reached for time and again. The best resort wardrobes have never been about packing more. They have always been about packing well. With a collection rooted in craftsmanship, versatility and timeless design, Hanne Bloch offers a thoughtful perspective on modern resort dressing, reminding us that the most memorable pieces are often the ones that feel the most natural to wear. • A Study In Grey: Charles & Keith Enters Its Next Chapter

A Study In Grey: Charles & Keith Enters Its Next Chapter By Sakshi Shah A Study In Grey: Charles & Keith Enters Its Next Chapter 9 October 2026 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement There is a particular kind of recognition that does not ask for attention. It lives in the curve of a familiar silhouette, the finish of a considered detail, or even the quiet grey of a shopping bag carried home long after the purchase itself. Over time, these details become something more than design. They become identity. For CHARLES & KEITH , three decades in fashion offer an opportunity to look closely at the details that have shaped its story, while keeping its gaze firmly on what comes next. Celebrating 30 years since its beginnings in Singapore in 1996, the label introduces Horizons , a year-long anniversary journey that considers its evolution not as an endpoint, but as a new point of departure. At the centre of this chapter is an unexpected protagonist: grey. Not a shade borrowed from the season's palette, but one that has quietly existed within the CHARLES & KEITH universe for years. Drawn from the brand's signature paper bags and packaging, the muted hue moves from the background into the spotlight, becoming the foundation of the Horizons Special Edition Capsule . It is a clever exercise in looking inward — taking something familiar and giving it an entirely new context. The resulting collection is a study in the brand's own visual vocabulary. Across handbags, footwear, eyewear and jewellery, established silhouettes are revisited through a burnished monochromatic finish, creating a collection that feels considered rather than nostalgic. The Hazel Bow Top Handle Bag and Philomena Half-Moon Crossbody bring different interpretations of the handbag to the edit, while the Gabine returns in both East-West bag and slide sandal forms. The language continues through sculptural micro bags, statement eyewear and refined jewellery, each piece contributing to the broader conversation around what has made CHARLES & KEITH recognisable over the years. Even the playful Dodie Bear Charm finds its place within the collection, offering a small note of lightness against the otherwise restrained palette. What makes the capsule particularly interesting is its relationship with familiarity. Thirty years of design can easily become an exercise in looking backwards, but Horizons chooses a different rhythm. Rather than simply reproducing the signatures that have defined the brand, it considers how those signatures can continue to evolve. That idea feels especially fitting for a label that began with a single shoe shop in Singapore and grew into an international fashion name, spanning shoes, bags, eyewear, accessories and jewellery. The journey has always been one of expansion — in scale, in design and in the way women engage with fashion. And perhaps that is where the significance of the 30-year mark lies. A milestone in fashion is rarely just about the number. It is about everything that has happened between the first sketch and the present moment; the silhouettes that stayed, the ones that changed, the details that became signatures almost without anyone noticing. For CHARLES & KEITH, even its packaging has become part of that visual language — a reminder that brand identity can be found in the most ordinary of encounters. The Horizons Special Edition Capsule turns that idea into something tangible. Grey becomes more than a colour. Familiar silhouettes become a study in evolution. And a shopping bag, once simply part of the experience, becomes an unlikely source of inspiration. There is something quietly poetic about celebrating thirty years by looking towards a horizon. It suggests movement rather than arrival, possibility rather than permanence. The anniversary marks what CHARLES & KEITH has built since 1996, but Horizons is ultimately interested in what might come after. As the year-long celebration unfolds through immersive experiences and storytelling, the Special Edition Capsule serves as its opening statement: a reflection on three decades of design, distilled into a collection that understands that the most enduring signatures are not necessarily the loudest ones. Sometimes, they are simply the details we have been carrying with us all along. And after thirty years, CHARLES & KEITH is still moving forward. “Every Detail Matters. Every Styling Choice Tells A Story. I Just Try To Stay Curious Enough To Tell It Well.” — Komal Shahani, Fashion Director & Costume Designer By Sakshi Shah “Every Detail Matters. Every Styling Choice Tells A Story. I Just Try To Stay Curious Enough To Tell It Well.” — Komal Shahani, Fashion Director & Costume Designer 30 September 2026 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement For Komal Shahani , styling has never been about simply making a muse look good. It is about decoding what a hue does in cinematic light, how a bias-cut sleeve reconfigures a silhouette, and when a garment transcends fabric to become the soul of a character. There are those who look at clothes and see mere trends. Komal looks at them and sees archive clues. A collar can whisper a character’s entire backstory. A precise shade shifts the emotional temperature of a frame. The weight of a fabric alters posture and movement. Even the casual roll of a sleeve quietly anchors a persona on screen. After over two decades navigating the intersections of fashion direction, styling, and costume design, her entire methodology revolves around tracking these exact nuances. That is why her creative approach remains deeply intuitive. When she meets an actor, the first thing she decodes is their distinct “fashion DNA” their cadence, physical geometry, and how instinctively they inhabit a look. She has witnessed this across Indian cinema’s most iconic faces. Akshay Kumar effortlessly elevates any sartorial direction; Thalapathy Vijay possesses a quiet, architectural confidence; Saif Ali Khan commands his own deeply articulated visual language; and Chiyaan Vikram holds the rare chameleon-like ability to completely morph for a role. This philosophy becomes electric when fashion and film collide. On Haiwaan, working alongside Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, her starting point is never the star power, it's the character narrative. She has to step out of the celebrity paradigm and immerse herself purely in the character's psyche. For Komal, the magic happens when an actor moves so seamlessly that the clothes feel entirely intrinsic to them. The styling dissolves, leaving only the living, breathing character. That same instinct dictates her palette. Take Thuppakki: her terracotta palette wasn't chosen just for aesthetics. She obsesses over how those warm pigments would react to South Indian light and Santosh Sivan’s lens, a masterclass in contextual synergy where color, cinematography, location, and character speak fluently to one another. This is where her worlds of fashion and costume blur into one cohesive visual communication. Whether she is conceptualizing an editorial or a cinematic frame, she is constantly interrogating shape, geometry, proportion, and narrative intent. Her work on Dear Jassi is a testament to this ethos. Grounded in a raw 1990s Punjab narrative, she layered in a subtle Y2K sensibility through contemporary silhouettes while preserving village authenticity. Director Tarsem Singh called it a “fashion playground,” capturing precisely what she aimed to build: a universe where disparate visual subcultures coexist harmoniously. This appetite for experimentation has always anchored her creative language. She has leaned into her inner rebel, though her perspective has evolved. Rebellion used to be about finding her voice; now, it is calculated curation. She still makes disruptive choices, but she demands absolute conviction for why they belong in the frame. It’s a philosophy she shares with the actors she styles. The most electrifying collaborations happen when the muse is equally obsessed with the subtext of the clothes. Bringing Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Ajay Devgn together for her Variety cover was an exercise in celebrating four distinct fashion identities rather than smoothing them over. Even as digital fashion conversations accelerate into overdrive, her process remains anchored in the sanctity of the frame. Trends roar and fade, but her North Star never changes: the character, the narrative, and the image. After two decades, her conclusion is striking in its simplicity. Personal style boils down to conviction not accumulation, not mindless trend-following, but knowing your aesthetic codes and understanding why. Ultimately, that is the thread weaving through all her work. Curiosity sparks the concept, research builds the context, and conviction cements its place in the frame. Because when the styling is absolute, you don't just see the clothes. You see the story. • Elie Saab H&M Is Bringing The Red Carpet Home

Elie Saab H&M Is Bringing The Red Carpet Home By Sakshi Shah Elie Saab H&M Is Bringing The Red Carpet Home 13 September 2026 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement For decades, Elie Saab has been designing for the kind of moments that come with flashbulbs. His gowns have appeared on some of the world's biggest red carpets, his bridal creations have become synonymous with romance, and his signature language of lace, embellishment and evening glamour has made the house instantly recognisable. Now, that world is heading somewhere rather unexpected: H&M . The Swedish fashion giant has announced Elie Saab as its next designer collaborator, bringing the Beirut-founded couture house into a collection that will launch in select stores and online on 22 October 2026. The collaboration will include womenswear, menswear and accessories, including footwear, opening up the house's distinctive aesthetic to a much wider audience. A Different Kind Of Elie Saab The announcement is interesting precisely because Elie Saab has always occupied a world that feels slightly removed from everyday fashion. There is a sense of occasion attached to the house, whether it is a heavily embellished gown moving across a red carpet or one of Saab's intricate bridal creations. His clothes have never really been about blending into the background. The H&M collaboration doesn't appear to be changing that language. Instead, it is translating it. The collection will draw from the house's contemporary vision and familiar codes, with embellished gowns, shimmering separates and sharply cut tailoring alongside fine lace, gradient sequins and signature monograms. It is still unmistakably Elie Saab, only now imagined for a different kind of wardrobe. From Beirut To Paris Long before the red carpet became part of the Elie Saab story, there was Beirut. Founded there by Elie Saab, the house first gained recognition for its refined bridal creations before developing into an international fashion name. Saab's career eventually took him to the centre of Parisian couture, where he became one of the first international members of the prestigious Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. That journey remains central to the identity of the house today. There is a sense of craftsmanship and refinement running through Elie Saab that has remained remarkably consistent as the brand has expanded across couture, ready-to-wear and accessories. The collaboration with H&M feels like another chapter in that evolution rather than a departure from it. The New Occasion Dressing What makes the collection particularly intriguing is its breadth. Rather than focusing solely on the gowns for which Saab is perhaps best known, the collaboration will encompass a complete wardrobe, extending into menswear, tailoring and accessories. For women, shimmering separates and lace bring the house's evening sensibility into pieces that can be styled beyond a traditional red-carpet setting. For men, sharply cut tailoring introduces the same sense of polish and occasion through a different lens. Accessories and footwear complete the offering, giving the collection room to move between the dramatic and the everyday. It also reflects something that has been happening across fashion for some time: the return of dressing up. After years of wardrobes built around comfort and understatement, there is a renewed appetite for clothes that feel considered, expressive and, occasionally, a little excessive. Elie Saab has never needed much convincing on that front. A Collaboration With A History Behind It For H&M, collaborations with major fashion houses have long been a way of bringing different corners of fashion into the same conversation. For Elie Saab, this particular partnership offers the opportunity to introduce its world to people who may have admired the house from a distance but never had access to it. Elie Saab himself has described the collection as being created for those who admire the world of Elie Saab, with each piece developed with care and dedication as part of a complete wardrobe. That idea of accessibility without losing the character of the house is perhaps where the collaboration becomes most compelling. Because the appeal of Elie Saab has never simply been about a logo or a recognisable name. It is about the feeling of the clothes: the movement of a gown, the light catching a sequin, the softness of lace, the precision of tailoring. Those details are what make the house's work instantly familiar, and they are exactly what this collaboration promises to reinterpret. Save the Date The Elie Saab H&M collection will launch on 22 October 2026 in select stores and online. In India, H&M currently operates across 74 stores in 32 cities and is also available through its online platform as well as Myntra and Nykaa. Whether you're looking for a gown that deserves its own entrance, tailoring with a little more attitude or simply a way to bring some of that Elie Saab fantasy into an otherwise ordinary wardrobe, October may be the month to get dressed for something. After all, not every day needs a red carpet. Sometimes, the clothes are enough.
