- Vashon Shaneé: Where Elegance Becomes Intent
Vashon Shaneé: Where Elegance Becomes Intent By Shriniwas Kodape Vashon Shaneé: Where Elegance Becomes Intent 13 July 2025 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement In the world Vashon Shaneé creates, time slows down. There’s a deliberate calm in her aesthetic—a kind of pause, like the quiet breath before a symphony begins. Her garments don’t shout. They don’t compete for attention. They carry a quiet power, drawing the eye not with spectacle, but with certainty. Every silhouette she sends into the world feels like a gesture made with care. Her designs don’t chase seasons or react to trends—they originate from a place deeper than fashion. Each piece is measured, not just in fabric but in feeling. She doesn’t dress women to transform them. She dresses women to reveal them. Vashon’s work begins not with color palettes or sketches, but with questions. Who is this woman? What world does she walk in? What does she want to carry into a room, silently and confidently? Her approach to design feels less like drafting patterns and more like building a dialogue—each piece born out of exchange rather than execution. The resulting pieces speak volumes. Tailored suits that stand like architecture. Satin gowns that seem to glide rather than hang. Shoulders that are sculpted, not exaggerated. Hems that trail like memories. Every element is deliberate—crafted to affirm, not to mask. These are garments that don’t just fit the body. They echo it. Her Instagram portfolio reflects this philosophy—a visual archive of elegance and depth. No frantic filters. No gimmicks. Just light, presence, and clarity. Whether it’s a backless evening gown in deep emerald or a sharply tailored jumpsuit echoing 1960s formality, the focus is always the same: grace over glamour, emotion over excess. And yet, Vashon Shaneé’s work never feels minimal for minimalism’s sake. It’s romantic, but never saccharine. Structured, yet soft in spirit. You’ll often find a daring neckline subtly anchored by a skirt that moves with softness and restraint. Her designs sit in the tension between past and present—where regency silhouettes meet contemporary poise, and vintage silhouettes are reinterpreted through a modern, assertive lens. Yet, interpreting her craft as purely visual underestimates its deeper resonance. What makes her practice extraordinary is the ritual of creation. Each client enters into a shared process with her—one that values conversation, collaboration, and fit that’s more than physical. Custom sizing is not a premium option; it’s the beginning of the journey. Every sketch emerges not only from creative instinct but from a deep attunement to the person it’s meant for. The fittings are intimate. The finish is personal. That level of attention feels revolutionary in a fashion world driven by immediacy. But Vashon doesn’t move for the market. She moves for meaning. Even her approach to sustainability feels less about slogans and more about soul. Her garments aren’t simply built to endure in thread and stitching—they’re meant to live on in memory. These are clothes one keeps, passes down, returns to. They don’t belong to a moment—they belong to a story. And at the heart of it all is a designer who leads not with spectacle, but with stillness. Vashon doesn’t clamor for the spotlight. She doesn’t need to. Her work speaks because it listens first. It is precise, poetic, and deeply personal. She doesn’t dress women to be seen. She dresses them to feel fully themselves. Perhaps the best word for her process is devotional. Devoted to her clients. To form. To integrity. In each piece, there’s a kind of reverence—for craft, for individuality, for the quiet strength of women who know exactly who they are. Because when Vashon Shaneé creates a garment, she isn’t just shaping a silhouette. She’s shaping the space a woman steps into—gently, boldly, entirely. Vashon Shaneé’s signature aesthetic was most recently showcased at Thailand Fashion Week , a celebrated platform for emerging designers who lead with depth over display. Her presence at Thailand Fashion Week further cements her place among voices redefining fashion with clarity, elegance, and intention. - Breaking Boundaries: Monalisa Hazarika’s Journey To Mrs. India Inc
Breaking Boundaries: Monalisa Hazarika’s Journey To Mrs. India Inc By Sakshi Batra Breaking Boundaries: Monalisa Hazarika’s Journey To Mrs. India Inc 29 December 2024 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement What happens when a woman decides to defy conventions and chase her dreams fearlessly? She becomes a trailblazer, an inspiration, and a symbol of empowerment. Monalisa Hazarika’s story is one such tale - A journey of grit, grace, and a relentless pursuit of breaking barriers. From a dreamer to a proud participant in Mrs. India , she has transformed not just her life but also the way society views women’s aspirations. Today, as a proud participant in Mrs. India, Monalisa’s journey is an inspiration to all those who dare to dream big. Empowering Women To Break Stereotypes Monalisa firmly believes that the world of beauty pageants has evolved and is no longer constricted to the stereotypical image of a woman . Women who participate in pageants are here to do so on their own terms. We are not just about beauty; we’re about brains, vision, and the ability to lead says Monalisa. “Pageants are, in fact, one of the biggest platforms for women to break the shackles of outdated stereotypes. It’s about time we celebrate every facet of a woman - the strengths, the flaws, the dreams, and the ambitions.” This powerful statement not only reflects Monalisa’s personal perspective but also challenges us to rethink the traditional narratives surrounding beauty and womanhood. For her, being a part of Mrs. India is about amplifying her voice, sharing her vision with the world, and inspiring women everywhere to believe in their potential. Support That Speaks Louder Than Words Entering a world as glamorous as fashion and beauty pageants is no easy feat. Yet, Monalisa’s journey has been paved with unwavering support from her family and partner. I’m one of the luckiest women to have such a supportive family she shares with a smile. “It was my mother-in-law who encouraged me to go ahead with this. And of course, my parents, my sister, my husband, and my kids have been my biggest pillars of strength.” Monalisa’s story reminds us that behind every successful woman is a network of support, encouragement, and love. It’s this collective strength that fuels her passion and drives her to keep pushing forward. Finding Strength In Challenges When asked about her favorite round in the pageant, Monalisa’s response is both inspiring and empowering. My favorite rounds were the panel interview and the top 15 Q&A she reveals. “It was here that I got to speak of my vision and mission in life, and this became my biggest platform to voice my opinion in front of such a large audience.” For Monalisa, the most rewarding aspect of her journey has been the opportunity to express her thoughts and dreams on a national stage. And it hasn’t always been easy . There have been moments when I felt hopeless,” she admits. “But I always made sure I got back to my confident and zealous self. Her story is a testament to the fact that success doesn’t come without challenges. But with consistency, hard work, and an unwavering belief in oneself, anything is possible. Comforting Food Despite the glamour and glitz of beauty pageants, Monalisa remains grounded. On a cheat day, my comfort food is always Biryani she laughs, adding a relatable touch to her powerful persona. It’s this down-to-earth nature that makes her even more admirable - A reminder that at the heart of every strong woman is a human being with simple joys and passions. If Monalisa Was A Judge? As a judge or curator, Monalisa would introduce a round that’s deeply personal: the All About Me round. “Here, a contestant would get to talk about herself - her story, her struggles, and her journey,” she explains. This round would be all about self-expression, with no questions or expectations from the judges. It’s a chance for every woman to be heard. Monalisa believes in authenticity, whether it’s in beauty or fashion . When something is overdone, it loses its charm she says. I believe in keeping it simple and staying true to yourself. Fashion should reflect who you are, not what others want you to be. This philosophy is part of what makes Monalisa’s outlook on fashion so refreshing. For her, it’s not about following trends, but rather about embracing individuality and personal style. Timeless Fashion: A Nod To The Past Fashion, as Monalisa puts it, always comes full circle . Fashion is cyclical. What’s old always comes back, whether it’s bell-bottom jeans or other styles from past generations she observes. And that’s the beauty of fashion—it can never be off permanently. Monalisa’s view on fashion is a reminder that trends are ever evolving, and there’s always room for creativity and reinvention. It’s about making the past relevant to the present and embracing your own unique version of style. The Legacy Of Mrs. India: A Platform For Empowerment As Monalisa’s journey unfolds, it’s clear that Mrs. India has not only been a platform for beauty but for empowerment. It’s about showcasing the true essence of a woman - her strength, her intelligence, her grace, and her resilience. Her story serves as an invitation to all women: dare to dream, be bold, embrace your individuality, and rise above challenges. Because when you have the courage to follow your passion, there are no limits to what you can achieve. - Unveiling the Myth: Does Pretty Privilege Truly Exist
Unveiling the Myth: Does Pretty Privilege Truly Exist LIFESTYLE Unveiling the Myth: Does Pretty Privilege Truly Exist By Anushka Sharma 17 April 2024 Advertisement In a world where Instagram filters reign supreme and beauty standards constantly evolve, the concept of pretty privilege has sparked countless debates. But what exactly is pretty privilege, and does it really exist? Let's embark on a journey through the realms of attractiveness and societal advantages to uncover the truth behind this captivating notion. First things first, what is pretty privilege? Simply put, it's the idea that attractive individuals enjoy certain benefits solely based on their appearance. From getting better job opportunities to receiving special treatment in social settings, the notion suggests that being conventionally attractive comes with its set of perks. But hold on a second! Before we jump to conclusions, let's break it down. Is pretty privilege a real phenomenon or just a figment of our imagination? Well, the answer isn't as black and white as we might think. Sure, being attractive might catch the eye of others and open some doors, but does it guarantee success and happiness? Not quite. While a beautiful face might grab attention, it's what lies beneath the surface that truly matters. Personality, skills, and character play a far more significant role in determining one's journey through life. Let's take a closer look at some common scenarios often associated with pretty privilege. Ever heard of the phrase, "Beauty opens doors"? Well, it might hold some truth. Studies have shown that attractive individuals are more likely to land job interviews and receive favorable treatment in certain situations. But does that mean they have it easy all the time? Certainly not. Consider this: A stunning applicant might catch the recruiter's eye, but it's their qualifications and skills that seal the deal. Pretty privilege might get your foot in the door, but it's your capabilities that keep it open. After all, no amount of beauty can compensate for incompetence. In social settings, attractive people might attract more attention and receive compliments more frequently. But does that translate to genuine connections and meaningful relationships? Not necessarily. True friendships and romantic connections are built on mutual respect, shared interests, and emotional compatibility, not just physical appearance. Moreover, beauty standards vary widely across cultures and individuals. What one society deems attractive might be completely different from another's perception. So, who decides what's pretty and what's not? It's all subjective. Now, let's address the elephant in the room: discrimination based on appearance. Yes, unfortunately, it does exist. Studies have shown that less attractive individuals might face prejudice in certain situations, such as hiring processes or social interactions. But does that mean pretty privilege is the flip side of the same coin? Not quite. Rather than focusing on the privileges or disadvantages associated with appearance, perhaps it's time we shift our perspective. Instead of fixating on beauty standards and societal expectations, let's celebrate diversity and individuality. After all, true beauty lies in embracing our uniqueness and loving ourselves for who we are, not how we look. So, does pretty privilege exist? Well, it's complicated. While attractiveness might open some doors, it's what we do once we're inside that truly matters. Let's strive to create a world where everyone is judged based on their character, skills, and contributions rather than their appearance. After all, that's where true privilege lies – in being valued for who we are, not how we look. Balancing Crowns And Commitments The hardest part of my journey? Balancing it all. Behind every dazzling sash lies a story of perseverance. For her, the toughest part of this journey was finding balance preparing for competition while managing work and family life was no small feat for her. Yet she managed to wear multiple hats with poise which is a testament to her determination and organizational skills. She learnt the art of resilience demonstrating that success lies in finding harmony amid chaos. Advice To Young Women: Fitness Beyond Appearances When asked about giving advice to younger women out there she emphasized prioritizing the fundamentals by staying fit to meet the demands of modern life. Focus on balanced nutrition, physical activity, mental well-being, and quality time with loved ones. True fitness isn’t about following trends; it’s about long-term health, self-care, and confidence. This holistic approach is a reminder that beauty begins with being kind to oneself and finding joy in a healthy and a balanced life. According to her, today’s pageants celebrate women’s intellect, achievements, and individuality. The world of beauty has evolved beautifully she shares . Pageants now break traditional stereotypes, highlighting the essence of women beyond the surface. Her journey exemplifies this shift, as she stands as a role model for women who dare to embrace their multifaceted identities. Honestly, there were days when she couldn’t wait to kick off her stilettos and slip into pajamas. But still cherishes the joy of the journey and the support of her family who made every blister worth it. Favorite Moments And Challenges Among the many rounds in the competition, her favorite was the icebreaker session. It was when we all met for the first time she fondly recalls. “Getting to know each other made the journey more friendly and enjoyable.”? It wasn’t just a competition - it was a sisterhood in the making. Strangers turned into friends sharing laughter’s and stories. She smiles and says that Pageants aren’t just about winning; they’re about growing together More Than A Pretty Face Indian women are known for blending beauty with purpose, and Mrs. India is proof of that. What got her there wasn’t just discipline and determination but also the willingness to use setbacks as stepping stones. If she could create my own pageant round, it would be the “Real Impact Round,” where contestants highlight their contributions to society. True beauty, after all, is about making the world brighter for others. Comfort Food And Creative Vision Even amidst a hectic schedule, Anuradha finds solace in simplicity. - Puma Speedcat Ignites Again With Rosé At The Wheel
Puma Speedcat Ignites Again With Rosé At The Wheel By Ananya Patankar Puma Speedcat Ignites Again With Rosé At The Wheel 25 July 2025 FASHION Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement K-pop icon Rosé leads the charge in PUMA’s latest Speedcat release—a dynamic fusion of retro racing spirit and modern street energy. Rosé lends her cool intensity to the PUMA Speedcat’s latest evolution—where a pale blue palette and racing roots collide in a silhouette made for modern icons. There are shoes that walk, and then there are shoes that wait to launch. Enter the PUMA Speedcat, a cult silhouette forged from motorsport DNA and resurrected once more, this time with the quiet power of K-pop star Rosé . In its latest iteration, the Speedcat doesn’t just make a comeback, it revs to life in a fresh pale blue colorway, punctuated with a flash of fierce orange, and a whole lot of attitude. Launched July 24, 2025, this drop marks yet another thrilling chapter in the Speedcat’s legacy, a shoe that first drew breath on the race circuit and now tears through streetwear culture with unapologetic ease. It’s lean, low-profile, and engineered for edge. Think: retro pit-lane cool meets future-forward styling. Rosé, a longtime PUMA muse and master of understated glam, once again takes the wheel in the brand’s visuals. But these aren't high-speed action shots. They’re slow-burning, simmering scenes. There’s a growling muscle car, a flicker of flame-red reflections, and Rosé sitting still, yet somehow brimming with momentum. It’s a cinematic expression of what the Speedcat stands for: power in repose, elegance poised to explode. The color story furthers the duality. That soft blue upper reads almost serene, until the orange Formstrip slices through like a bolt of speed. It's a nod to the shoe’s motorsport heritage, but it also feels distinctly contemporary. The kind of color combo that glides from tarmac to terrazzo café floor without missing a beat. What makes this drop desirable isn’t just its aesthetic, it’s the aura it exudes. The Speedcat isn’t trying to be trendy; it is timeless. And yet, with Rosé lending her quiet fire to the campaign, it becomes something more. A wearable contradiction: cool yet charged, graceful yet grounded, a shoe that speaks even in stillness. Available now on PUMA.com , flagship stores, and selected retailers, this release is less about speed and more about style that simmers. Whether you’re a motorsport devotee, a Rosé fan, or someone with an eye for silhouette and statement, the Speedcat is your signal flare. Because the real power moves? Is knowing when to stay still—and when to ignite. - Suhani Shah Celebrating 25 years in Mentalism
Suhani Shah Celebrating 25 years in Mentalism by Naisargi Devdher Suhani Shah Celebrating 25 years in Mentalism 2 September 2022 COVER STORIES Advertisement Even before understanding what fame and glamour is, a child understood what magic is! It was 26 years ago, that a 6 year old Suhani saw a ‘magic show’ and dreamt of becoming a magician. This marks her 25th year performing mentalism, as she still carries the charm and innocence that 7 year old Suhani did. Talking of it, there is a lot of glamour, a factor of ‘wow’, self-love and over confidence associated with the career transition. To which, she elaborately explains, “As a child, I kept talking of magic and fortunately, my parents honestly were extremely considerate about it. You know, my father spent 6 months looking for a tutor and basically putting across magic as my educational development, because somewhere my inclination towards magic was visible. And that was the age when I didn’t even understand what glamour or for a fact even fame is! So when my first show was grandly put about, the then Chief Minister attended it. That was exactly how my career began. So for me on a personal level, fame has been a part of my career, so has glamour, it existed then, it persists now, so never does overconfidence seem to be very much an issue to say.” Putting it simply, she brought about the point of growing up with talent. Queerly, to think of, does a child always begin with imagining that she would be a part of a mega industry rather than just performing for herself? That anticipation of where she’s being lead to marks a crazy confusion in the life of an artist. “To be completely honest, yes, I did think that the talent is leading me to some place grand. I could foresee my career with magic, art and what not around. However, I truly did never expect this transition, you know! I did never know I would be assimilated with a streaming, or filming culture. That for me has not just given me a new hypo graph to live up to but also, something I truly wanted to do. Having youthful energy, I wrote books over mentalism and magic, I had art shows to perform but none of it made me as satisfied as being a part of this industry makes me. That is the exact meaning for transition and unknowingly yet beautiful, I get pushed and mingled in the industry.” When the transition of career happens to be natural, there are a lot of changes one needs to adapt to. There was a demand for the talent I held, but it was never a career that I would want to perform. Thus till the pandemic hit, I really didn’t think of it. However, when the pandemic hit, the work stopped, I was barred from home and that was exactly when I began with YouTube streaming and making videos. So the transition was never sudden, it just happened slowly. I had to adapt, accept and identify that I was away from the stage, I had screens to connect with people to, and performing live had a very different sense. That adaption was actually challenging because it brought me to a stage where I had to recognise my career scope and recognize what exactly was to be done. You know, I didn’t go to school, I didn’t go to college, I was just working all the while, and now I was here where I had to sit and just do nothing. That was more challenging for me. So I remember, starting off with an online show, ‘Magic being performed online’, that somewhat pulled me through the pandemic dilemma. While streaming on YouTube was the exact game changer I was looking for because looking back, I was having fun doing it. Little did I know that it was the beginning of a novel spectrum of my career!” All this while, Suhani mentioned the Pandemic to be a revolution in all senses However, through all of this happening, there is a high doubt of where art forms are leading to when it comes to India, because there's a lot to do with glamour here as well. “A bit contrary to what you said, India is filled with art forms with diverse roots. It’s not even similar, there is a difference in totality. And truly, in my understanding, we are always attracted to glamour. You see a beautiful rose, its glamour, desire of living in a house I glamour, and that will always be appreciated but here it’s more about how you understand art to be. Because art is also glamorous, art also is beautiful and that goes hand in hand. The window to the world during the pandemic was their phones. People were seeing direction, cinematography and all of it came from art. And whatever the screens passed on to people was art. People eventually started valuing art, realising that when nothing works, and its art that they can rely on.” Mentioning the importance of art and growing up with it, there is a lot of superstitious association with magic. Dealing with which stands out from any coaching. “Since childhood, I was looked at as a ‘DEVI’, saying I can heal everything possible. Earlier, people confused me with a musician and there I had to sort out the exact meaning of a magician, after which, a lot of people came to me asking me to heal their illnesses or asking me solve their problems. This was exactly what shifted me away from any sort of superstitious association since childhood. I give ted talks speaking against superstitions. Hence I always say, ‘I CANNOT READ MINDS, I CAN CREATE AN ILLUSION OF READING MIND’.” Just adding illusions cannot definitely define it as magic. However, according to Suhani, Guzaarish is a movie that utilises pieces of magical elements. That’s exactly where she leaves you with… Wonder how to deal with magic, because every potential of yours is magic if you know how to use it!! - Do I feel pretty?
SOCIETY by Neha Pande Do I feel pretty? 1 September 2020 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Do I feel pretty? Do I love my looks? Miniskirt or Salwar Suit, which one should I choose? A women’s life is scandalous and decided by the way she dresses or looks, it is the harsh reality of the women beauty standards where aesthetics is everything. A judgmental world where lipsticks are more expensive than books because that’s how the society is, isn’t it? Makeup, surgery and the way I “should” dress, publicised through all social media making young girls think they are to look a certain way. Society has made it a norm for women to dress pretty with makeup done neatly and not to dress tomboyish as it is impolite for a girl to be dressed in men’s clothing. Funny thing is it doesn’t even matter if she’s perfect with beautiful skin and a neatly dressed or if she is tom boyishly dressed with bad skin, it doesn’t matter the amount or makeup she has on or does not because the society still will judge, it will still try to nit-pick on whatever they can. You may think if she’s in a Miniskirt people will drool over her and if she is in a Salwar Suit people might call her a ‘behenji’; to that, yes, that might happen with our society falling into the tracks of western culture people might like the miniskirt and beautifully done makeup better but salwar suit has its own charm and will also invite a lot of spectators. But it doesn’t matter if it’s a Salwar Suit or a Miniskirt as the female behind it will still be criticized, as if her change in size or dressing has let everyone down. Her body is caged in reviews and views with titles on her as if she’s a zoo animal, shouldn’t she be allowed to dress however she wants? Shouldn’t she wear as much makeup as she wants or not? Society may change with feminist movements going around the globe, this mentality might change and till then all we can do is to stop asking the question about which one is better, Miniskirt or Salwar Suit because it doesn’t really matter as we all are passengers of the same ship which is headed by the captain called “Society” and we all are suffering the same from the same judgment as others. by Aishwarya Let’s talk about the alcohol brands owned by celebrities 2 November 2022 FOOD Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Alcohol has a huge presence at many parties and this fact can’t be denied. With the creator economy, there is an influx of individuals and celebrities turning towards entrepreneurship. Many celebrities have come forward with their brand, while many of them have also partnered with some big organisations. - Pad vs Banana
SOCIETY by Aparajita Jaiswal Pad vs Banana 19 April 2022 SOCIETY Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement What is Sex-education? I grew-up in a small town, where the people would receive a thrashing for uttering the word SEX. Writing the word SEX on any piece of paper, was no less than penning our own death warrant. Therefore, learning about it from our schoolbooks became impossible, and talking about it in the public was considered offensive. Along with my puberty came the age of 2G internet, and along with downloading video games setup on proxy servers, porn movies became the hot talk. These enabled the boys of my age to watch videos of penetrative sex. Yes, it was porn movies that gave us them first sex lessons. The debate of ban over pornography has always received mixed opinions, and even mine has fluctuated with time. Sex-education is certainly a must for every person in their late teenage and early adulthood. Particularly, for people like me who grow up in small towns with not much provided guidance. Having been a porn addict, I find myself qualified (read and learned) enough to write against pornography. Pornography lacks consent: I have watched many porn movies in which the female actors are seen undressing their male partners without their consent. The male actors are seen groping their female partners without their consent. Basically, pornography, in general promotes (at least supports) molestation in the name of sex. People may have different political, religious, and regional identities, but no one should consider molestation normal. Anyone defending pornography, for any intention, should at least not let this very thought slip away from their mind. Pornography encourages incest: A significant number of porn movies show the male actor having sex with a girl playing the role of his mother, sister, sister-in-law and even daughter. While the religions and cultures have different opinions on incest, research shows that incest is harmful to possible off springs. Majority of sex educators (gynaecologists) strongly oppose incest, and hence incest shouldn’t be encouraged in the name of sex through pornography. Sanitary napkins vs Bananas: A good porn movie (according to my younger version) is incomplete without a girl inserting unconventional items (like a banana) inside her private parts. The availability of such videos on the internet is a matter of disgrace. Sex education should be about spreading knowledge on the healthy menstrual cycle, sanitation of genitals, valuing consent, and so on. It should certainly not be about the ill-treatment of genitals but rather about EXPLORATION of sexuality. P.S.I do not intend to offend anyone.
